Parody

About The Book

Parody

Parody is your typical South Jersey small town.  Everyone knows and loves everyone… a historic cemetery quietly welcomes the dearly departed…and a highly ethical mayor runs the town. NOT ON YOUR LIFE!

Beneath an idealized facade, things unravel in ways no one quite expects.

A beloved figure is pulled back into the center of town life under bizarre circumstances. The story quickly shifts into something sharper, stranger, and far more revealing. What follows is a mix of humor, chaos, and unexpected twists, where local politics, personal ambition, and hidden agendas collide.

John Bauer uses satire as his lens, turning ordinary situations into something exaggerated yet oddly believable. The characters feel real, flawed, and at times comical, but always purposeful. As events spiral, the town itself becomes a stage where science fiction is mixed with good vs. evil  drama laced with slapstick and corny jokes.

This story entertains, but also quietly exposes contemporary absurdities. You’ll laugh, question, and recognize more truth in it than you might expect.

Why Read It?

Parody

If you’re looking for a story that does more than just pass the time, Parody delivers something sharper. It blends humor with insight in a way that keeps you engaged while constantly nudging you to look a little closer.

What makes this book stand out is how it mirrors reality without ever feeling heavy. The scenes may seem exaggerated, but they reflect situations, personalities, and decisions that exist all around us. You’ll find yourself recognizing patterns, even as the story leans into its most absurd moments. You’ll find yourself rooting for the good guys and gals.

More than anything, it’s the tone that carries the experience. It’s confident, unfiltered, and unafraid to say what it wants to say. You’re not just reading a story, you’re stepping into a world that feels strangely familiar, just turned up enough to reveal what usually stays hidden. You won’t want the story to end.
